That, to use Frank Herbert's great, wonderful phrase—the first time I got into a conversation with a dog—he just stopped laughing. I've never had that. I've never had a dog. I don't really talk about him as a dog, but I actually had one when I started out, and it wasn't very different from what I've been doing in my life. In fact, it was very different from what I got into. He just stopped laughing, because he knew I wasn't joking around. But his life ended in 1991, right after he was 10 years old. That's when I knew something was wrong. So he just stopped because I wanted to talk with him, so I did and I just kept a few of these little pictures on my blog.
