"What I do is just do what I gotta do. It's just a job."

Laurie's owner, Brian Thomas, said he doesn't believe there are any real hazards in using animals on the property.

"Some of the dogs may have no job and some of the cats may have a better life, but I think that's going to be a fact of life for people if we want to keep dog owners happy," he said.

The owner said he's happy he's being able to keep a pet and keep in touch with family.

"It took a long time to get here," he said. "I just hope the family members feel it's time to give back."
