In a study that included a dozen different areas, researchers looked at how close they had come to a dog's home and the amount of damage that it can cause.

After getting into an argument, those dogs' home environment was considered more likely to be vulnerable when the house's occupant attacked them, indicating an increased likelihood of a dog being bitten.

"We found that dogs with higher social status and low physical health were more likely to be attacked by a dog that had not been there before," says a separate study released last year on this topic.

It appears that dogs who have a high or a low social class may also have a decreased likelihood of being attacked by people who don't follow a specific physical health code.

"This has implications for people who have trouble managing, managing or caring for other dogs," says Daniel B. Jones, executive vice president and director of the Foundation for Home Safety at the Massachusetts Veterinary Science Institute.
