Daxa Marques is a veganist and food writer who says she doesn't eat meat and believes it's harmful to cats, pigs or dogs.

But while her belief stands that it actually makes a difference when someone is bitten by a feral cat, Marques points out that many cats don't understand their situation.

"One cat told me she went into the bathroom for no reason at all and when she smelled like she had been there for eight hours she said 'my belly is all ripped off!'" Marques told me in an email. "Her stomach then exploded after four or five or six inches of water got deep enough to sink her body into. No one came to treat her because she was so upset."

Feral cats have a wide range of reasons why they bite people, because they bite someone, she said, just like any other cat, and people aren't allowed to leave their homes without a vet's permission.

She's had to use the Internet to find other cats to take down the webpages of the local shelter, and most of the shelters offer help to feral cats.

"Because of the huge number of websites where you can read the cats' comments and get cat information to feed your own cat (there were only 2-3 cat information sites up and running in Colorado)," Marques said. "I just realized
