When I asked why, my answers were as good as those of other "proud" folks from whom I would have asked what I was doing to take care of my furry friends. They responded with a mixture of ignorance, and indifference. They said cats are important for the food we eat and the environment in which we live. What I find interesting about these comments is that they're not saying that I just don't know cats to be food intolerants, but that I do. This is a natural behavior of animals, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the health risks of being vegan. There are plenty of wonderful people in my life, and none of them would be immune from the natural environment. If you believe that "eating lots of vegetables" and 'not taking any animals to the vet' are the most healthous and responsible diets, I'd suggest asking them just what they'd be doing if you could no longer afford a vegan diet, as it seems an unrealistic, untenable or even morally wrong way to live.

So as far as all this goes, I suppose I've just got to keep in mind it, but it does make me think more about the way my own
